- Mindfulness Based Living
Live in your body!

‘Mr Duffy lived a short distance from his body’ (James Joyce, Dubliners)
This quote may describe how many of us live in relation to our body as we’re often so caught-up in thinking that we live from the neck up!
What are the benefits?
Being fully aware of being in our body brings a greater sense of awareness of our present moment experience when we’re not engaged in future or past orientated thinking. Being present settles mind activity and brings a sense of relaxation and being held by the body.
How to..
Sitting or lying down comfortably become aware of your feet (focusing your attention to sensations such as tightness, softness, feelings of contact with floor or clothing);
Take time to slowly move your attention from the feet; through the legs; into the torso; across the back; down the arms; across the shoulders; around the neck and to the top of your head – take time to notice your felt experience in each of these areas;
Pause, to take a felt sense of being in the whole body from the top of your head down to your feet. Take some moments to rest here.
TIP - Use attention of breathing if you find yourself getting caught up in thinking.
